Your Small Purpose: The Japanese Principle of Ikigai

personal growth Apr 17, 2022

#LeadandLift | Episode 34 | Sharon Otaguro

Have you been chasing achievement at the expense of your relationships and health?

What if you can lead a busy life and still find joy…

Sharon and I met at a 10K workshop to learn how to scale our small business.  We became accountability partners after and then worked on creating our first Summit in December 2020.

We won the eyes of a few A-List entrepreneurs at that event and went on to host events for them which was hugely successful.

Sharon and I co-founded Ohana Event Solutions which offers Done With You (DWY) and Done For You (DFY) options for Speakers, Coaches and Healers who have expertise that they want to share with a broader audience through unique online and in person experiences (such as Summits, Retreats & Workshops).

Here’s what you’ll learn in this episode:

  • What is Ikigai?
  • Daily purpose vs life purpose
  • Principles to live a happy life
  • The five blue zones

I hope you love this interview as much as I did and can set a purpose for each day and for your next birthday.

Here’s a glance at this episode:

  • Ikigai is a Japanese term, loosely translated it means the joy of busy life
  • Everyone has a purpose…it’s not something that you are actively seeking, it’s something that you discover along the way
  • Look for the intersection of the things that you love, the things that the world needs, the things that people are going to pay for and what you're good at
  • Move yourself out of your comfort zone and discover something new that you enjoy
